As nearly every corporation including Google, Amazon, and Apple have been increasingly stealing our private data such as personal information, browsing habits, health data, etc, I have made it my mission to minimize the data these dickheads collect about me. I am also degoogled.
What I don't use | What I use |
---|---|
Gmail | Tuta, a secure email service that is end-to-end encrypted. |
Chrome | Firefox browser with the arkenfox or betterfox user.js which adjusts browser settings to provide privacy and security while minimizing loss of functionality. AVOID CHROME. I sometimes use the Tor browser when I want to browse anonymously. |
Google search | Metasearch engines such as SearXNG and Whoogle. They take search results and sanitize it (removes ads, IP tracking, cookies, etc.) and users are never tracked nor profiled. |
Youtube | Invidious, an alternative frontend which basically retrieves your search queries as a middleman protecting you from direct exposure similar to SearXNG and Whoogle. A simple way to implement this is using a browser add-on like LibRedirect. |
iOS/Android | GrapheneOS which is a private and secure mobile operating system. I mostly stick with free and open-source software (FOSS) apps. |
macOS/Windows | Qubes OS (Linux), a reasonably secure OS. |
